The Schultz Gift
Another history-making faculty endowment resulted from the generosity of Penn State alumnus and hospitality industry executives Raymond Schultz and his wife, Erin, of Memphis , Tennessee. In May 1998, the Schultzes made a $3 million commitment to endow a dean's chair - the University's first such endowment - in the College of Health and Human Development. An endowed dean's chair adds to the national prestige of the position, while income from the endowment provides the dean with discretionary support that can be directed to urgent student and faculty needs. Ray and Erin are well known among health and human development alumni for their previous support of scholarships and career development programs.
"Knowing that we've been able to help, even a little, to provide an extra measure of security and excellence for generations of Penn Staters in the future, as well as for priorities in the College of Health and Human Development, brings us great satisfaction. This endowment allows us to give back and say 'thank you'-forever."
