Why It Matters

During fiscal year 2005-2006:

  • 82 percent of Penn State students receive financial aid
  • 66 percent of students graduate with debt ($17,500 average debt)
  • Only 23 percent of Penn State undergraduate students received a University scholarship, though many more qualify

Facts & Figures

  • There are 126 endowed funds created by Penn State Alumni Association Chapters, AIGs, and Alumni Societies. This means approximately 45% of all groups have established an endowed fund.*
  • Last year, these endowments award $269,974 to Penn State students and faculty.
  • In addition, 10 alumni groups support annually funded awards and scholarships.
    * = Based on 280 chartered Penn State Alumni Association groups.
